The Honorable
The Secretary of State,
Washington, D.C.
Sir,
WASHINGTON,
August 6, 1912.
48
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of July 30th, No. 151.08/66, enclosing copy of a fur-
ther note from the British Embassy in reference to the deport-
ation to HongKong of Chinese persons found unlawfully within
the United States.
This Department will be pleased to comply with the
request that, in any cases where the criminal antecedents of
Chinese deportees are known, information to that effect
shall be communicated to the HongKong Government through
the British Consul General at San Francisco, or, if deport-
ation takes place from some other port, through the nearest
British Consular official.
As will appear from the facts stated ib Department lat-
ter of July 9th, it is probable that the cases in which
Chinese criminals will be found among the persons deported
are likely to be very rare.
Respectfully.
CHARLES NAGEL,
Secretary.
